“Send money home to your family, split a dinner bill with friends, or pay the neighbourhood chaiwala. Make all payments big or small, directly from your bank account with Tez, Google’s new digital payment app for India,” Google notes in its information portal about the new app, Tez.
Tez is not a mobile virtual wallet like PayTM offers a mobile wallet it is more like Apple’s Wallet in the western countries. Here the app links up your phone with the bank accounts and allows you to use your phone as a way to make payments from those accounts. The app is available in English as well as in seven other Indian regional languages. It is, for now, available for both iOS and Android.
Tez also features a technology called audio QR which allows users to transfer money using sounds to pair two devices. Known as “cash mode option,” phones negotiate a connection using audio to identify the payer and payee devices. The feature does not require the exchange of personal details like bank accounts and phone numbers. The payer and payee apps will identify those with the sound signals.
They have launched an invite and earn offer where you can refer your folks. Once the referral gets the app installed, both parties get ₹51 in their accounts. You can refer the app to as many people as you want although the maximum reward is limited to the ₹9000. The referral offer, according to Google, will be valid until April 1, 2018.
